We didn’t expect it because of all the planning that goes into the reception, but the ceremony stands out as one of our favorite memories of the day. I was completely taken by surprise…who knew Steve had such a way with words? We are so thankful to Alex for such a special and personal sermon that had us (me) in tears of joy. We continue to hear from friends and family how much they enjoyed the ceremony as well. Standing in my grandparents’ church, in the same spot my parents stood as they recited their wedding vows…it was just perfect.
A close second was the feeling of the whole room disappearing around us while we danced our first dance. Amazing!
And of course, the best man speech was a big hit!

If we did it all again, we would do much the same! We maybe would have tried to stick to the timeline a little closer so we could have spent more time enjoying the event with our friends and family. We probably would have done a receiving line, as lame as they seem. We didn’t get face time with many of our guests despite skipping our dinner to make rounds before the dance floor opened. Having too many wonderful people surrounding you is a good problem to have though 🙂

We honeymooned for 2 weeks in Italy and would absolutely recommend it! We loved the variety it had to offer, from the scenic hiking trails of Cinque Terre, to the picturesque landscape of Tuscany, the architectural wonders of Rome, and the breathtaking art of Florence. We spent some days exploring cities from dawn til dusk, learning from tour guides and walking til our feet were numb, and other days just relaxing and enjoying each other’s company, consuming delicious food and wine all the while. Italy checked all the boxes for us—and we have approximately 5000 photos to show for it!

Even though it set us behind a bit, I appreciate the time Wes took to photograph us with our parents before the ceremony because we didn’t get another opportunity to be alone with them for the rest of the day, as things were more focused on the bridal party and guests and they began “hosting” duties. Wes had everyone laughing during photos and did a good job wrangling a large crowd and still making time for bride and groom shots.
